A few tips for your restorative practice (Part 1)
The purpose of restorative practices, like sound healing, yoga nidra, and restorative yoga, is to drop us in a deep sense of rest and rejuvenation, embracing the use of support and props. We cultivate a sense of being held, creating an intentional opportunity to drop into a receptive and profound inner sanctuary.
Here are a few tips for your restorative practice:
Take PLENTY of time creating your vibe, including your environment and prop set up. Don’t rush. Setting up the experience is apart of the practice. Dim the lights, get your incense, crystals, weighted blanket…. All the things that make you feel good. Create a ritual around the set up!
Allow time and space for the body to settle into your designated shape. It’s okay to fidget and readjust. Make the shape speak to your needs in the moment.
In the practice, give yourself permission to move if something doesn’t work. In our rest practice, we don’t want to create stress around a posture or pose that doesn’t work!
